Personal, Social & Emotional Development
The nursery encourages individuality and the development of a child's personal, social, moral and spiritual development. Aiming for the child to be confident, have self respect, independance and the ability to make his or her own decisions in life.
We focus on how children learn to work, play, cooperate with others and function in a group beyond the family, promoting the development of personal values and the understanding of self and others.
Children become confident, show appropriate self-respect and are able to establish effective relationships with other children and adults.
They will begin to work as part of a group and independently, becoming more able to concentrate and persevere in their learning and to seek help where needed.
They are eager to explore new learning and start to show the ability to initiate ideas and solve simple problems. Their independence in selecting an activity or resources and in dressing and personal hygiene will start to emerge.
We demonstrate to the children through our own behaviour and role modelling, the importance of sensitivity with regard to the needs and feelings of others, the value of, and respect for people of other cultures.
Children learn to take turns and share fairly. They express their feelings and begin to understand appropriate behaviour, developing a simple understanding of what is right, what is wrong and why.
They respond to their surrounding and personal events showing a range of feelings, such as excitement, happiness and sadness.
