Our Team
The staff have been employed for their important attributes: a genuine affection for children and plenty of patience, tolerance and enthusiasm.
They have friendly, outgoing personalities and are considerate of the childs and the parents needs as well as the specific nursery requirements. Most of the staff are also qualified First Aiders.
All staff are police checked, health checked and are employed according to the successful completion of a three month probation period. During this three months the staff spend time in all areas of the nursery and are expected to comply with nursery policies and procedures. They will also be given the chance to spend time in the Fleet branch of ABC for training purposes.
Staff are responsible for the care of the children, organisation, planning and supervision of the daily activities. This includes the cleanliness and safety of the various play and rest areas.
The staffing structure is made up of the Manager, Deputy Manager, Nursery Nurses, Apprentice Nursery Nurses and Nursery Assistants, all employed on a permanent basis. The Apprentice Nursery Nurses are employed on a years fixed term contract.
Supernumerary staff includes a Caretaker, Cook and Cleaner who are not at ratio with the children.
The nursery also employs a number of Relief Nursery Workers who work on busier days or to cover staff sickness and holidays.
There are a number of students who will be on their placement at ABC and will work alongside the nursery staff, experiencing all areas if nursery life. Students are not counted in ratios and will always have a support member of staff with them.
Permanent staff at ABC must hold a formal qualification as well as other qualifications or may be working towards one. There are also opportunities for all staff to update their knowledge through various training sessions/seminars.
