Our Rooms
Baby Bears
The Baby Bears have their own playroom where they can be cared for in a safe environment by the nursery staff assigned to their room. The babies are surrounded by age appropriate toys and equipment, but are also offered planned, stimulating activities including hand and foot painting, sticking, water play, play dough, etc.
The sleep room is attached to the playroom, which enables staff to observe the babies during their rest periods. These are not rigid, but coincide with the routine followed at home. This routine changes according to your child's need and is lead by him/her.
There is also a nappy changing area with individual baskets to keep personal items in (spare clothes, nappies, wipes etc.). We also ask parents to supply a toothbrush and toothpaste as we encourage all children to clean their teeth after meals.
The age in this room is 3 to 18 months and the child to staff ratio is 1:3 for this age group. There are often babies over this age in the Baby Bears Room however, as they are not moved into the Toddler Tiger Group until they are secure in their all round development.
Toddler Tigers
The Tigers have their own play area which is equipped with age appropriate toys and materials.
There is a book, home corner and dressing up outfits, as well as jigsaws, games, construction toys, dolls and sit-and-ride toys. There is also ample opportunity for messy play activities where the children can experiment with an array of creative materials, e.g. play dough (which the children make themselves), corn flour, paint, crayons, chalk, glue, scissors, collage, cooking, water and sand.
There is a nappy change area with each child having their own basket of necessities, but staff are very happy to work alongside parents in developing a potty training routine.
After lunch the children have a rest, and we have adequate sleep mats for all the children.
We have children between the ages of 18 months and 3 years in the Tiger Room. At 3, they progress up to the Big Badgers Group.
A detailed daily report sheet, giving individual information, is prepared for each child attending the Bears or Tigers Groups.
Badgers
The Badgers have their own room, toys and equipment with the accent being on learning through structured and free play.
We follow a curriculum in line with government recommendations, and work towards the Early Learning Goals highlighted by the Department for Education.
There are many opportunities for the children to have fun and experiment with creative materials, books, music, dressing up, puzzles, construction toys etc.
They can also take part in the many messy, activities on offer such as play dough, paint, pencils, crayons, chalks, corn flour, glue, scissors, collage, cooking, sand and water.
Their bathroom is child-friendly, with the sinks, toilets, hand towels etc being within easy reach. This furthers their independence and encourages them to take responsibility for their own needs.
You are welcomed to spend some time in the badger room, being involved in the activities or reading stories if you have spare time during a day.
