Settling In
Before your child officially starts at the nursery, it is highly recommended that you bring them along for a few introductory visits.
During these visits, you can spend time in the nursery with your child encouraging them to join in the activities and getting to know the staff .
When your child is left for the first time it will not seem quite so daunting as it may have been he/she had spent no time familiarising themselves with the routine, other children and staff.
In practice this works very well, but it very much depends on the individual as to how many visits are required. There is no charge for these visits, which may include a meal break or sleep time. We recommend four visits ranging from 1 to 2 hours. Please refer to our admission policy contained on the policies page.
In view of the variety of activities, your child needs to be suitably dressed. We request the following list of requirements for your child to start at nursery:
- A full range of clothes (more spare pants for potty training)
- Wellington boots
- Hat, coat and scarf in winter
- Sun hat sun cream and jacket in summer
- Toothbrush, cup and toothpaste
- Material bag for peg. We do not allow plastic bags at nursery because of the safety implications
- Nappies, wipes and cream appropriate
- Formula milk, if appropriate
- A comforter i.e. favorite toy or dummy
- 2 photographs for peg and birth date board
All personal belongings need to be CLEARLY NAMED and the nursery cannot take responsibility for personal belongings.
Prior to your visits you will be offered, in writing, the care that is available. If this is acceptable by you we ask that you return the cut-off slip on the offer letter with the appropriate registration fee. This secures your childs place at the nursery. There will be a start date agreed at this time.
